Editing notes
Canon's reputation for skin tones is deserved and shows up as a warmer, more magenta-leaning default rendering than Sony or Nikon. Frequently needs *less* warming than other bodies; over-warming Canon files is the most common editing mistake with them.
Looks that suit these files: Portra-ish 400, Golden hour, teal shadows.
The files it writes
The Canon EOS R5 records RAW as .cr3. C-RAW makes files roughly 40% smaller by discarding data permanently. Invisible in normal grading, visible in a deep shadow recovery — worth choosing deliberately rather than leaving on.
What a .cr3 file actually contains — compression, bit depth, embedded previews and which software reads it.
