Privacy Policy

RawCut is a browser-based tool for inspecting and deconstructing photo edits. This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: your photographs never reach us.
Your photos are never uploaded
Every image you open in the Studio — JPEGs, PNGs, RAW files and their .xmp sidecars — is read directly by your browser using the local File API and rendered on your own GPU. No photo, sidecar or LUT you open in the Studio or the XMP → LUT converter is transmitted to a RawCut server. Closing the tab discards it.
The one exception is explicit and opt-in: if you choose to publish an edit to the community, the images you selected for that post are uploaded so other people can see them. Nothing is published without you pressing publish.
What we store in your browser
RawCut uses your browser’s local storage for features that would otherwise be lost when you close the tab. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- saved looks (recipes only — never images)
- Academy progress, XP and badges
- Masterclass chapter completion
- your advertising consent choice
- community posts and likes, when running without an account
Clearing your browser’s site data for RawCut removes all of it.
Accounts and published posts
If you create an account, we store your email address, a display name and handle, and the posts you publish (their images, EXIF metadata and editing recipe), along with likes, comments and reports you submit. Authentication and storage are provided by Supabase. You can delete your account and everything attached to it yourself, at any time, from your profile settings — no request and no waiting. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: it removes your login, your published photographs and their editing recipes, your comments, your likes and your challenge entries together. If you would rather we did it for you, contact us and we will.
Advertising cookies
RawCut is free, and advertising is what pays for it. When ads are enabled we use Google AdSense, which may set cookies to measure and personalise the ads you see. We ask for your consent before the Google advertising script loads at all — decline, and it is never requested.
Google’s use of advertising cookies is described in its partner sites policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings. To change your choice on RawCut, clear this site’s data and the consent prompt will appear again.
Usage counts
We count how often the tools are used, so we know which of them are worth keeping and improving. These counts are deliberately built so that they cannot identify anyone: there is no cookie, no account link, no session, no device fingerprint and no stored IP address. Two conversions by the same person are indistinguishable from two conversions by two people, and we have no way to tell them apart.
A recorded event contains only these fields:
- what happened — a conversion, an export, a deconstruction, a page view or a file we could not read
- which tool, file format or page template it concerned
- the size in bytes of the file processed
- the date
It never contains the file itself, its name, its contents or its metadata, and page addresses are reduced to their template before they are sent — a post you looked at is recorded as /p/[id], never as the post. This is a count of events, not of people, and we cannot turn it back into one.
We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for page performance. Both are cookieless and set no cross-site identifier. None of these measurements involve your photographs, which never reach a server at all.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold, to withdraw consent, and to object to processing. Because the overwhelming majority of what RawCut touches never leaves your device, most of this concerns account data only. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Children
RawCut is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions about privacy, or requests concerning your data, can be sent to wizi2727@gmail.com.
